Why Cloudburst happens???

In this we will talk about very interesting question that how and why cloudbursts happens ??But first of all we must know about types of clouds.

20 miles above from the earth space gets starts but between that 20 miles earth has its atmosphere which is made up of a number of layer.Clouds used to float between these layers
  • Altostrats cloud:These cloud float between 2,000-6,000 ft above earth's surface. These clouds are in rapid motion and use to change their shape frequently. And quickly causes rain.
  • Altocumulus clouds:These are similar to altostrats clouds. They floats upto 6000 ft above surface but they are small and of golden edges. At the time of sunrise they seem beautiful.
  • Cirrus cloud:These float between 400-18,000 ft above surface. These are tailed shaped clouds and less dense.
  • Cirrocumulus cloud:These clouds float upto 20,000 ft above surface.Thses clouds are small rounded puffs that usually appear in long rows high in the sky.
  • Cirrostratus cloud:These float between 18,000-50,000 ft above surface. Cirrostratus clouds usually come 12 to 24 hours before a rain or snowstorm. They usually cover the entire sky.
  • Cumulonimbus clouds:These float between 50,000-70,000 ft above earth's surface.Cumulonimbus clouds are thunderstorm clouds and are associated with heavy rain, snow, hail, lightning, and sometimes tornadoes.

Fog that we see is also a type of cloud.

Now let us know how rain falls??Many tiny water droplets combines to form clouds.Water gets evaporate from earth , at great heights temperature gets lower and vapors collects and become tiny droplets and from these clouds are formed. When these clouds gets heavy, they causes rain.At lower temperature these rain droplets freeze in air and cause snowfall.

Now let us come back to our question that why cloudburst happens??Cloudburst can cause a huge disaster like we have seen in Uttarakhand in recent years.Cloudburst mainly happens in hilly areas.Heavy air rises up with clouds by striking the hills. On reaching at greater heights, temperature gets lower and due to upper air pressure and low temperature clouds gets denser but the air coming from below don't let clouds to rain and between this harsh condition rain drops starts collecting in clouds in large amount. And at the end due to high pressure and heavy mass collected in clouds, causes rain and snow falls in huge amount on surface.

Rain which should fall for a week or month at slow pace gets collected and falls suddenly in short period of time and causes disaster with floods and breakage of dams which we call it
 as cloud burst....
Cloudburst causes 5 cm of rainfall in half an hour. To put this in perspective, India, in a normal year, gets about 116 cm of rain in the entire year: it means that every area in the country, on an average, should expect to get only this amount during the course of the year. A cloudburst would therefore account for 10-12 per cent of the annual rainfall of that area in just an hour!

Can cloud burst be predicted??Currently there is no possible way to predict cloudburst but scientists all over he globe are working on this and in future we may be able to predict cloudburst.
So be safe and live healthy...
